About Kayser Space
Engineering space,
since 1986.
Kayser was founded in Livorno in 1986, starting as a small engineering company specialised in electronics and data acquisition systems for harsh environments. Just a few years later, a shift in technology opened a new direction: space.
In the early 1990s, Kayser began applying its engineering expertise to microgravity research and space experimentation. What started with the first biological payloads soon developed into a much broader field of activity, spanning electronics, scientific hardware, life sciences, human physiology and systems designed to operate in some of the most demanding environments imaginable.

The beginning
Kayser’s journey into space began with microgravity research and the development of its first experimental hardware. Those early projects laid the foundations for a new chapter in the company’s history.

Today
Today, Kayser develops payloads, experimental hardware and space systems for research in orbit, working with agencies, universities and international partners.

Our future
The next chapter builds on forty years of experience: enabling new experiments, new technologies and new ways to explore and operate beyond Earth.
From experiments to complete
space systems.
Over the decades, Kayser technology has flown aboard Russian capsules, the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station and a growing number of European and international missions.
Projects such as BioBox, Biopan and KUBIK marked important stages in this journey, followed by increasingly complex payloads, facilities and electronic systems. Along the way, Kayser has worked with space agencies, universities, research centres and industrial partners, translating scientific ideas into hardware capable of operating in orbit.
The company’s role has evolved with every mission: from electronics and data acquisition to the development, integration, qualification and operation of complete experimental systems. Life sciences and microgravity research remain an important part of this story, alongside technologies for telecommunications, materials science, Earth observation, exploration and scientific satellites.

1986
The year Kayser began its journey into space.
40 years, more than 100 missions.
In 2026, forty years after its foundation, Kayser’s history includes more than 100 space missions and generations of technologies developed to make research and operations beyond Earth possible.
Today, that journey continues under the Kayser Space identity, bringing together four decades of experience with a broader vision for the future of space systems and microgravity services.
This archive is the story behind
the hardware.
Every payload tells more than a technical story. It connects people, experiments, missions and moments in the history of space exploration.
This archive brings those stories together — from the first flights of the late 1980s to today — to show how Kayser grew alongside the space sector, one mission at a time.
